Chapter G · Ask who pays

Ask your insurer what it will pay.

Before paying, ask your insurer about the assessment and any tests separately from the exact treatment being offered.

Name the expense being checked

Give your insurer the name of the person assessing you, the type of visit and the proposed service. Ask what paperwork it needs to tell you what it will pay.

Ask what portion would be yours to pay. Save the written reply with the service’s quote. If you call, write down the date, who you spoke to and any call number they give you.

Do not turn an answer about the visit into an answer about the treatment. Ask each question on its own.

Do not assume approval from a payment offer

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had given no US approval to any BPC-157 medicine as of September 2026.

Ask the service what exactly it expects your insurer to pay for. Request the same description that will appear on the bill.

Give that description to your insurer. Keep asking until you understand what it will pay and what you would owe.

Ask about medical spending accounts

A health savings account holds money reserved for medical costs; a flexible spending account does too.

US tax guidance as of September 2026 treats care for a specific disease differently from spending just to feel healthier. For example, a weight-loss program to treat a disease diagnosed by a doctor differs from one used only for general health.

Contact the company that manages your medical spending account, using the contact details on its statement or account website. Ask whether this exact expense qualifies and what paperwork it needs.

Clarify the note they need

A letter of medical necessity is a note from the person providing your care that explains why an expense is needed.

As of September 2026, US tax guidance on medical expenses does not name that letter as a requirement.

The company managing your medical spending account may ask for that note as proof of why you need the expense.

Ask what must be in the note before asking the person providing your care to prepare one.
